Various causes of sore throat when swallowing
Many things can happen to the throat and cause sore throats when swallowing, including infection in the throat, or an allergic reaction on the swallowing pathway.
The following are some of the causes of sore throat when you swallow what you need to know:
Sore throat
A sore throat when swallowing can be caused by inflammation caused by a bacterial infection, a viral infection, or an allergic reaction to allergens from the environment (pollution, cigarette smoke, dust, or pollen from plants). The bacteria that cause sore throats when swallowing are usually Streptococcus bacteria in the tonsils and throat. But, this condition can also be caused by a virus. These bacteria or viruses will cause inflammation and irritation of the throat wall.
Inflammation due to inflammation of the throat is usually characterized by swollen lymph nodes, swollen tonsils, yellowish white spots on the surface of the throat or tonsils that are red, have fever, and sore throat when swallowing. If the disease is caused by bacteria, the doctor will give antibiotics.
Gastric acid disease
For those of you who have problems with stomach acid that is quite chronic, you may experience pain or difficulty in swallowing. This condition is caused by stomach acid which flows up again even to the esophagus (esophagus).
Then the acidic stomach fluid will cause irritation of the esophageal wall, causing pain when you swallow. Even stomach acid can cause respiratory problems. Rising stomach acid can be caused by stress, obesity, eating foods that trigger stomach acid such as soda and hiatal hernia (abnormal diaphragm membrane which limits the chest cavity and abdominal cavity).
Tonsillitis
Inflammation of the tonsils occurs when there is an infection of the tonsils (two lymph nodes located on each side of the latter part of the throat). Supposedly, tonsils are responsible for helping to prevent infection from entering the body. Inflammation of the tonsils is caused by bacteria and various viruses that can be transmitted.
Although it can occur at any age, this disease is most common in children. If left untreated, this condition can lead to serious complications. Symptoms of tonsillitis include fever, sore throat, and tonsils appear swollen and red sometimes accompanied by yellowish white spots.
Diphtheria
Diphtheria is caused by a bacterial infection that can have serious consequences, namely Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Poisons from diphtheria bacteria can affect the mucous membranes of the nose and throat by forming a new white membrane that is thick above the surface of the nose, throat, tongue and other respiratory tract.
Symptoms of diphtheria include shivering, fever, the appearance of thick gray spots on the tonsils and throat, swollen glands in the neck, coughing like barking, bluish skin, sore throat, discomfort and mouth saliva. Diphtheria can be prevented by using diphtheria vaccine.
Not all sore throats when swallowing are caused by sore throat. Try to notice the symptoms and other symptoms that accompany them. It is recommended to consult a doctor to get the right treatment.
